Amoeba Music has three locations in California. They have a wide selection of new CDs as well as vinyls, tapes, and hard to find posters. Amoeba also claims to have the largest selection of used CDs in the United States. It's definitely worth a trip to one of the stores if you are nearby. Crow's Nest Music has 2 large stores in the Chicago area that carry all different styles of music. The lower level of the downtown Chicago store has a large import section with many German releases. CDs by bands ranging from Atrocity to Wolfsheim have all been found in their import section. If you can't make it to the store, try their online store located at www.crowsnestmusic.com.

Dancing Ferret Compact Discs is the official store of Dancing Ferret Records. This is the record label that released German bands like Eisbrecher and Qntal (among others) in the USA, and the store has plenty of their CDs. There are also plenty of other bands that are not on the Dancing Ferret label which mostly consist of industrial and electronic bands.

Generation Records is an independant music store that mainly specializes in industrial and electronic music from around the world including plenty of German selections on CD and vinyl. Some of the more guitar-oriented bands that have been found here include Oomph, Tanzwut, and Richthofen. There is a large selection of bootlegs as well. The basement level of the store contains a large used selection as well as tons of band shirts and posters.

Music Werks is a store that mainly focuses on industrial, gothic, synthpop, and noiz genres, and also has a magazine dedicated to these types of bands. There is also a web store with an extensive selection located at www.musicwerks.org if you are not near Seattle.

Rasputin Music is a small chain of stores in the San Francisco Bay area, currently with 7 locations. They offer a wide variety of German music from rock to electronic, and feature a large selection of used CDs as well. FYE is a very common store across the USA, and suprisingly they do carry some German music. Of course you will find Rammstein at FYE, but at some stores you can also find some of the medium-well-known German bands like Die Krupps, Faust, Einstuerzende Neubauten, Laibach, Kraftwerk, Wumpscut, Funker Vogt, etc. Don't be afraid to go to the counter and ask if they have something listed on the computer. Many times you can special order a CD very easily, they even have some Megaherz available for special order.

Virgin Megastore

Virgin Megastore is a chain of very large media stores found in several major cities across the USA and around the world. The stores are large enough that they often have German bands in the main music section, as well as in a specific import section. In Extremo is a common find in Virgin stores, and they sometimes have rare Rammstein imports also.
